For an adventurous woman, impatient to get on with the next chapter of her life, waiting is a special kind of torture.
But I have a plan. And I am following the plan. Relentlessly.
Sigh.
All the pieces of my plan will be complete in January, at which point I will begin serious shopping for my new-to-me minivan home.
I’ve spent countless hours researching, browsing listings, watching YouTube University, and have finally decided on the make, model, year—and yes, color—of my home-to-be. Because I have had so much time while I’m waiting and following the plan. Relentlessly.
I’ve been waiting for almost three years because life keeps interrupting my perfectly laid plans. It seems to happen to us a lot, doesn’t it? It can be painful and frustrating. But I think the trick is to be present in those interruptions, and find some joy as best you can, rather than simply endure them.
And it has occurred to me that this has shaped me in a way that will be very helpful in vanlife. It seems that the people who are able to be flexible, roll with surprises, and adapt when plans fall apart are the ones who thrive the most. In fact, that applies to a lot more than vanlife, doesn’t it?
So I am here, not-so-patiently waiting. Enjoying my morning coffee, my dogs, and the beauty of the world I’m in. Following the plan. Relentlessly.
But living here, too.
